We always carry pasta and ‘boil in a bag’ rice.img_9859 We use the stove to cook the pasta or rice, then create a sauce from those little tins of tomato puree or bottles of pizza sauce. We always use one tin of puree and one tin of water. Or a big squirt from the pizza sauce bottle and about half as much water. We throw in fresh veg and mix it all in with the pasta / rice. We also use tuna or cooked sausage like pepperoni or salami.


Our guilty pleasure is those tins of chilli hat Americans seem to love! When we’ve been in the States there are whole aisles of things. They’re dead cheap, very filling and tasty. We add veg and our usual flavourings.
